I have been helping clients with bespoke osteopathic treatment for just over 20 years. Over this time I have successfully treated well over 3,000 patients from all walks of life, worked with BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing‘ as their osteopath, and helped professional (and amateur) sports people from all sorts of sports.
The main conditions I treat include back pain, sciatica, neck pain, joint pain and arthritis, sports injuries and pregnancy and birth issues including cranial osteopathy for babies.
My philosophy as an Osteopath
My aim is to get you out of pain as quickly as possible, before providing longer term help and guidance as to how to avoid a repeat episode. Essentially my hope is that once you are pain free you are able to maintain this for yourself. My focus therefore is on helping you understand your condition, what aggravates it, and what you can do to relieve it, should the need arises.
My Training and Qualifications
On top of my degree in Osteopathic Medicine, I have undertaken extensive training in Cranial Osteopathy (focusing on treating babies and children), pregnancy related back pain, Work Station Ergononics, Manual Handling and Postural Assessment which I offer within my practice. I have also qualified in Dry-Needling. This is a type of acupuncture which is especially good at helping treat a wide range of joint and muscle problems. Essentially, I offer effective treatments from newborn to the elderly.
I am fully qualified and registered with GOSC (General Osteopathic Council). And I am registered with all the major insurers.
My Background
My original career was in Advertising. However, as a long-term sufferer of low back pain I was so impressed with the results I gained from Osteopathic treatment that I changed track and sold my house to fund my training at the British College of Osteopathic Medicine.
I graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Osteopathic Medicine, where I was awarded the prize for being the top rated student for each of the four years of the course. I chose to study at BCOM as it also enabled me to qualify as a Naturopath with a Diploma In Naturopathy. This gave me the opportunity to expand on my first degree, which was Food Science and Nutrition.
As an aside I am also a qualified Hypnotherapist and Sleep Coach, which enables me to be a more rounded ‘Wellness Expert’ too.
Finally, as almost all my clients want to be treated by an experienced osteopath I have chosen to remain as a sole practitioner rather than employ less experienced juniors. However, i have taught at BCOM (British College of Osteopathic Medicine to put something back into the profession which I love.
