For most of us, there are three main reasons that we get lower back pain. Our hereditary (lower back pain runs in families), our posture (sitting down for a living) and age ( wear and tear).
As a lower back pain sufferer myself, my unique focus is on how the whole area works as a unit. I typically look at the lower back in combination with the hips and pelvis, as this tends to have a better longer-term prognosis.
Short-term relief suggestions.
Chronic lower back pain tends to be helped with a heat pack put on the area which hurts, although pain on the spine can be relieved by short-term ice. Lying on your back and hugging each knee in turn can also be of benefit.
