Osteopathy is based on understanding how the body works, with treatment then tailored to the individual patient.
The unique system of diagnosis and treatment of Osteopathy lies in our understanding of that makes the body works from a structural viewpoint, and to re-establish balance and pain-free function.
Initial consultation and treatment
The initial consultation and treatment lasts between 45 and 50 minutes and costs £70
I always start with a full case history to establish a clear understanding of what happened and why you are in pain. I then assess your individual bio-mechanics, posture and pain triggers.
You will be undressed (leaving on underwear) for this, with all women wearing gowns.
I will examine gait and posture, and palpate the area around the injury to establish an understanding of the full condition, which I will explain in detail as we go along.
Once we have discussed a diagnosis and treatment plan, I will then start straight away to relieve your pain. I combine a variety of different techniques depending on what is most suitable for your individual condition.
This includes massage, mobilisation, spinal manipulation, and dry needling acupuncture.
My long-term support after the treatment includes workstation suggestions, the best stretches to do, and natural remedies you can add, and dietary changes to consider from my Naturopathy and Food Science qualifications.
I strongly believe that once a patient understands their condition and what aggravates and relieves it, they are in the best possible shape to maintain a healthy, pain-free posture.
Follow-up treatments
Follow-up or ongoing treatments typically last around 30 minutes per session. At the start of every treatment, we review your progress, what has changed and how the treatment has worked. Subsequent treatment is then focused on removing the last parts of the pain and getting the body to a position where a full recovery can be maintained.
